Women Rights stressed

Masses stressed for protection of women rights for sustainable development of the country.
CHITRAL: The speakers in a one day training workshop for members of different Human Rights Monitoring Committees (HRMC) working under auspices Legal Awareness Program for Human Rights (LAPH) a project of Easy and Equitable Access to Justice Program for women of Chitral which is financially supporting by Trocaire an Irish based NGO stressed the masses for women rights and equally participation of women folk for sustainable development. Niaz Ali Shah Chairman Board of Director LAPH briefed the stakeholders about the aim and objectives of the organization which working for protection of women rights to boost them for positive participatory in development of the country. Wazir Zada a minority social activists and president of HRMC Bumborate and Rumboor of Kalash valley shared his experience with other members regarding conflicting and challenges of women of Kalash (minority). As there is no rights in heredity and property for a daughter in Kalash religious. He said that women of the area facing great hardships especially in health and education sector as there is no such educational institution for girls nor any lady doctor in the only Basic Health Unit of Bumborate and that is why most of the women folk dying during their delivery. Hence women of Kalash community having the only rights that they can marry with their own choice but if she marry an other man the first husband is bound to pay double to the her first husband as spent at the time of heir marriage. He said that Kalash culture which is the most unique and rare of the word is eradicating due to different reasons which is need to be preserved.
Mukhtar Bibi president of HRMC Garamchishma said that their locality also a backward area and that is why women folk facing numerous problems even they deprived of their basic rights like health, education etc. Besides it there is no other basic amenity or any other facilities for women folk in the area. Shakira Naz of HRMC Mastuj while expressing her views that Mastuj is a far away locality of Chitral but there is no facility for general public even their only Rural Health center is still deprived from Doctor since its establishment. Hence they empowering women folk by their own efforts to train them in different skill and handicrafts to earn their livelihood with a honor way. Nusrat Bibi of HRMC Drosh complained that there is only one girls high school for 60000 population while there is lack of basic facilities in health units of the area. She demanded through this platform for early construction of a degree college and posting of lady doctors at Civil hospital Drosh.

Khadija Sardar of HRMC Chitral town said that women of Chitral are frustrated due to no opportunities for them hence they running a Arts and Craft center to boost handicraft skill of women to provide them opportunities of gaining livelihood, money to live in the society with a honor way. She said that this is responsibility of the state to provide facilities and give opportunities to women folk for earning their livelihood. Besides them Aijaz Ahmad a forest researcher, Mrs. Sultan Shah (District Naib Nazim), Miss Shabana of GROOTS, Tanweer Ali Shah of Regional Women Empowerment project and representatives of Kalash community shared their experience with the stakeholders. They thanked LAPH and Trocaire for supporting government agencies in the filed to provide free legal assistance, rehabilitation, discouraging drop out, helping deserving students financially, awareness raising among the masses regarding sensitization of women rights and other so many fields. A large number of male and women folk from Ismaili, Sunni Muslims and Kalash community (minority) participated in training workshop for members of different HRMCs. The main objective of the training workshop was to together all members of different HRMC working different parts of Chitral and to share their experience with each other for learning a lesson from their experiences and practices.
