PESHAWAR Dec 21 (APP): Federal Minister for Communication, Dr Arbab Alamgir Khan said Monday that survey of 82 kilometer Chitral Tajikistan Road has been carried out and Chitral will be connected with Tajikistan through Lawari Tunnel.After completion of Lawari Tunnel, the Minister said that Chitral will enter into a new era of development and prosperity that will bring major socio-economic improvement in the lives of downtrodden people.
Talking to media in Chitral, he said that Lawari Project was the dream of PPP founder Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and this gigantic project will be completed soon .
He said that design of Lawari rail tunnel has been converted into road tunnel which is more durable, sustainable and cost effective. Keeping in view the difficulties of people of Chitral especially during winter,
the government has decided to keep the tunnel open for two hours to facilitate the outgoing and incoming passengers on daily basis, he said. Dr Arbab Alamgir said that he would visit the site next week to determine and examine pace of work on the project. Chairman NHA
Chaudhry Altaf, GM Lawari Tunnel Engr. Samad Khan and officials of the construction company were also present on the occasion.
