Chitral received Chitral 21 millimetres rain

The News - PESHAWAR: Light rain on Thursday broke the protracted dry spell and turned weather pleasant in various parts of NWFP, including the provincial capital.The rain that started late Wednesday night, continued with intervals on Thursday while minimum temperature recorded was 9 degree centigrade, with 88 percent humidity in the provincial capital.

The rains brought smiles on the faces of the people, particularly farmers who were worried about the fate of their wheat and other crops. Doctors were generally of the view that the rains would help reduce some of the diseases caused by dry weather, dust and pollution.

Peshawar received 7 millimetres, Dir 35, Chitral 21, Saidu Sharif 12, Timergara 17, Drosh 10.4, Parachinar 19 and Balakot 5 millimeters rain till filing of this report. There were also reports of rain from Mardan, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Timergara, Kalam, Balakot, Tank and drizzle from Kohat and Bannu.

The Met office forecast chances of more rain during the next 24 hours in Peshawar, Abbottabad, Bannu, Dera Isnail Khan, Kohat and Mardan. Razmak, Shawal and Lowara Mandi in North Waziristan also received the first rain and snowfall of the winter. Chitral also received the much-needed snowfall, which was continuing till filing of this report.
