BBC - Pakistani city of Peshawar hit by explosionA series of explosions has been reported in the north-west Pakistani city of Peshawar.

Witnesses said the blasts were in the same neighbourhood as the US consulate. Plumes of smoke were seen over the area and several buildings were said to have collapsed. Reports said a protracted gun battle followed the blasts. A BBC correspondent in Islamabad said the scene was still chaotic and it was not known how many people had been killed or injured.
