KARACHI (Online): Additional and district and sessions judge judicial complex Ubaid Ahmad Khan has awarded leaders of Muhajir Qaumi Movement, Afaq Ahmad and Aamir Khan life imprisonment in murder case of Farooq, a worker of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).
The statements of 14 witnesses were recoded during the hearing of the case. The announcement of reserved judgment in the case of possession of illegal arms has been deferred till April, 14.
The leaders of Muhajir Qaumi Movement were facing the charges that 4 workers of MQM were kidnapped at their behest. 3 among them were subjected to severe torture and were set free later but one Farooq was killed.
Judge had laid down in his judgment that the charges of kidnapping, robbery and rioting had not been proved against these two accused in this case. However the statements of some out of 14 witnesses proved that MQM worker Farooq was killed at the behest of both of the accused.
Both the leaders of Muhajir Qaumi Movement have been allowed the benefit of section 3/82 in the verdict and the period of their detention will be counted in their prison term.
Later talking to the journalists after hearing of the cases in judicial complex, Afaq Ahmad chairman Muhajir Qaumi Movement said this decision was expected and it was a political decision and he did not accept it. "I will approach superior judiciary against this decision. High Court and Supreme Court are independent. We earlier did Muhajir politics and would continue to do Muhajir politics. We will not compromise on it", he announced.
Aamir Khan, leader of Muhajir Qaumi Movement said " I had extended offer for reconciliation to all parties on the occasion of previous hearing for the peace of the city. This offer is still there for all including MQM, he added.
