Foreign investors show interest in Pakistani marble, granite stones

ISLAMABAD(Via Pakistan Times): Foreign delegates, traders and investors showed interest in marble and granite stones put on display by Pakistan Stone Development Company(PASDEC) at 6th Build Asia 2010 exhibition.

More than 11 countries including China, Cyprus, Germany, Iran, Italy, Malaysia and UAE participated in the exhibition as co-organizer the Pakistan Stone Development Company displayed the marble-square blocks extracted from Model Quarries and Quarry-Up-gradation projects of Khuzdar, Mastung, Buner, Chitral and FATA.

Briefing visitors, the chairman PASDEC said the company had started modern quarrying of marble and granite with the state of the art machinery in Pakistan. He said the production of the dimension stones had marked a new era in Pakistan’s Marble and Granite sector.

He said the PASDEC was endeavoring to promote the modern quarrying practices through state of the art machinery and consequently the mine workers were following the modern methods of quarrying.

He added the nature had gifted the country with huge reserves of marble and granite in different colours and shades. He also offered them to import quality marble from Pakistan.

Other stakeholders for the marble and granite sector had also set up stalls to exhibit marble square blocks and value added products.
