Blasts in Schools and Ismaili Community Center in Chilas


Three mysterious blasts happened in Chilas in Diamer District of Gilgit-Baltistan. A primary school run under the Social Action Program (SAP), a Girls High School and a community center of the Ismailies were attacked and heavy damage was inflicted to the buildings. The blasts were carried out in the middle of night around 2:00 A.M when the buildings were altogether empty. Via Dardistan Times

No casualties were reported; nevertheless, the adjoining buildings and houses were cracked and damaged.
Another incident happened around the same time at the compound of the Ismaili Jamat Khana where an oil cane filled with explosive material was exploded and the front wall of the Jamaat Khana and the main gate were partially damaged. One of the oil canes filled with the explosive remained unexploded.
The blasts left the residents scared and most of the people remained awakened till morning. Police officials from the nearest police station arrived on the spot immediately.
A First Investigation Report (FIR) has been filed against the unknown miscreants.
All the Girls schools in Chilas have been ordered to shut down and the Deputy Commissioner of the area has scheduled a special sitting with the religious leaders and local notables to ponder over the situation.
People from all walks of life, sweepingly, condemned the incident in the educational institutions and the worship place of the minority Muslim community.
Chilas is a Gateway city to Gilgit-Baltistan and it is a reasonably peaceful place where the traversing travellers on KKH stop by for quick shopping, meals and sightseeing of the famous rock carvings and inscriptions.
The latest bizarre incident in Chilas, a sister city of, Gilgit-Baltistan is considered a heinous attempt to sabotage the peace and to create contentions among the peace loving people of Gilgit-Baltistan.
