GGHS Reshun still covered by Flood debris, students reading in Primary school building.
CHITRAL: (via groundreport.com)Government Girls High School Reshun which was badly affected by flood two years ago and still covered under heavy debris and mud could not removed from school building as a result 300 girls students are reading in Primary school building. During debates in Community participation workshop parents of these girls students expressed their great anger and grief over the poor performance of education department. It was also revealed that a girls middle school adjacent to high portion was given on rent to one of her relative by the then Executive District Officer elementary and Secondary Schools Miss Gulsambar. Hence the building was vacated on the direction of present EDO Education Haji Muhammad Siraj. The GGHS Reshun was badly affected two years ago after heavy flood and all the flood debris, mud heavy stones enter inside the school building which blocked all doors and students were exhausted through windows. There is some 5 to 7 feet debris inside the school building and still closed for the last two years. Students of the school were shifted to primary school building where they reading in a very congested environment. More than 80 students both from Arts and Science classes have been adjusted in one class room. Hence the most worsen situation occurred at that time when a science teacher attend her science class and students of Arts class go out side to the class room setting under open sky in this hot weather.
A student of 9th class told this scribe that she want to become a doctor to serve the needy people but she not sure that her dream will be fulfill because there is no Science room, Laboratory, Library in the present school at primary portion for high classes. More over there is no staff room for teaching staff and female teachers setting in a tent during their free times. Students also badly suffering due to non availability of play ground. Principal of the school Mrs Norshaba told this scribe that not only students but her staff also badly suffering due to lack of facilities and shortage of class room. Arifulla a social worker from the community whose 3 daughters are reading in this school told that we have time and again requested to district administration for evacuation and removing of debris from high school building and some 150000 fund also have been approved but practically work still awaited. He said that there is no transport facilities for these girls students who coming from more than 15 kilometers away from the school but usually they travel by feet in this chilly hot weather.
EDO School and Literacy Haji Siraj responded when he was contacted that we are trying of our best to construct two more rooms in primary portion and to clear the school building from debris and will shift primary portion to high one because parents of high school reluctant to send their daughters to high school because they consider it risky and in flood hit. Besides it a large number of students complained of narrows class rooms and overburden in high classes because some 80 students are setting in one class room. They demanded for immediately evacuation and removing of debris from high school as well as establishment of Science Laboratory, Library and provision of school bus.
