AHORE - PTI chief Imran Khan, against the backdrop of PPP leader’s Zulfikar allegations against Interior Minister Rehman Malik, has demanded of the minister to resign from both his office and Senate till he is cleared of the charges levelled against him.
He made this demand while addressing an Iftar party hosted by party leader Aqeel Ahmed on Sunday. Party leaders, Umer Cheema, Dr Arif Alvi, Sadia Saif, Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed, Ijaz Chaudhary, Zaheer Khokhar, Ishtiaq Malik and others were also present on this occasion.
Imran while expressing serious concern over the revelations and accusations made by PPP leader Zulfiqar Mirza who is a close confidant of President Asif Zardari, said that the most serious allegations were those made against MQM chief Altaf Hussain which, if correct, amount to treason against the state of Pakistan. Zulfikar accused the MQM chief of allying his party with the US in the latter’s alleged agenda of breaking up Pakistan. He also accused the MQM chief of lobbying with the UK to finish the ISI - again a treasonable act if proven to be correct.
He demanded immediate inquiry be set up to ascertain the veracity of the charges of the Zulfikar through a sitting judge of the Supreme Court. He further demanded that the government must respond to each and every accusation of Mirza.
“A thorough investigation has to be made into the allegations regarding the alleged plan by the US to break up Pakistan”, Imran demanded. PTI chief said that Zulfikar Mirza had exposed the terrorists of MQM in his press conference, while the later political events would expose the PPP too. He added that these allegations and revelations would benefit the masses, as they would see the real face of both MQM and PPP.
He said that economic conditions of the country could not progress till the accountability of corrupt rulers. Imran pledged that PTI would launch a merciless accountability process if it voted to power and maintain rule of law in the country.
