Concern over lack of funds for Lowari Tunnel

from The Nation - PESHAWAR - Chairman of his own faction of PPP Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao has expressed concern over non-availability of funds for the construction of Lowari Tunnel and said that it would certainly affect different development sectors and further widen sense of deprivation among people.He said that Lowari Tunnel was a long-standing demand of the people of Chitral and was approved after a long time, however, due to certain difficulties construction work on the mega project might be stopped, which, he said, would further widen the sense of deprivation among the people.

He said that it was need of the hour to fulfill the construction work of the province as soon as possible as it was the Chitral district that remained cut off for almost six months from rest of the country.

He called upon the government to immediately remove all the hurdles owing to which it was feared that work on the mega project could be halted for an indefinite time.
