Pakistan Day celebrated with fervour, zeal

The News - ISLAMABAD: The nation celebrated the Pakistan Day on Tuesday with traditional zeal and fervour. Various political, cultural, social and other organisations organised elaborate programmes to mark the day in a befitting manner.

In Lahore, the Pakistan Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm. The day dawned with special prayers for the progress and prosperity of the country, while a 21 gun-salute was presented in the provincial metropolis.

The Punjab government ministers and other dignitaries visited the mausoleum of Allama Muhammad Iqbal to pay homage to the great poet and philosopher, who conceived the idea of establishment of Pakistan. They laid wreaths at the grave of the great poet and offered Fateha.

Various radio and TV channels aired special programmes to highlight the significance of the Pakistan Day and various aspects of the life and services of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and other leading personalities.

The Pakistan Rangers held a grand musical show at the Wagah border in which thousands of people, including women and children, participated. An impressive flag-hoisting ceremony also was held at Wagah, while Director General Pakistan Rangers, Punjab, Major General Muhammad Yaqub HI (M), was the chief guest on the occasion.

The University of Punjab also celebrated the day in a befitting manner that included a series of seminars to pay tribute to the workers of the Pakistan Movement.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Day was also celebrated in the Bahawalpur district with national zeal. Various programmes were held to celebrate the day in a befitting manner. A peace rally was also taken out by the Citizen Police Liaison Committee and members of the civil society. A large number of people belonging to all walks of life participated in the rally. 

In Nankana Sahib, the Pakistan Day was celebrated with traditional zeal and fervour. The day dawned with special prayers in all mosques of the district for the progress and prosperity of the country and the unity of the Ummah.

The PPP and the PML-N workers organised special meetings in their respective offices in which speakers highlighted the importance of the day. The speakers appealed to the people to pledge for safeguarding the ideological boundaries of the country with the same spirit with which Pakistan was achieved.

Speaking on the occasion, MNA Mehar Saeed Ahmed Zafar, MPA Rai Shah Jehan Khan Bhatti and former minister Rai Mansab Ali Khan said the Quaid-i-Azam believed in fair play in politics. Meanwhile, the Pakistan Day was observed in Peshawar with a renewed resolve to protect the country against all odds and rid the homeland of the menace of terrorism and extremism.

The day dawned with a 21-gun salute and offering of special prayers in mosques for the progress, prosperity, integrity and well-being of Pakistan.There were special programmes in the Army Public Schools in which students highlighted the importance of the day by presenting tableaus and skits.

On the occasion, peace rallies were also taken out in which a large number of people took part. A number of political and social organisations had arranged seminars and symposium where speakers highlighted the objectives of the Pakistan Movement. Local leaders and students, in their speeches, paid homage to the Quaid-i-Azam.

Newspapers published special editions, highlighting the significance of the day. In Chitral, the Pakistan Day was commemorated and a function in this regard was held at the Government Centennial Model High School.

In Bannu, the Muslim League Labour Wing celebrated the Pakistan Day in a function arranged on the Jaman Road. People from all walks of life took part in it. Quran Khawani was organised at Jama Masjid, Ghalanai, where special prayers were offered for the martyrs of the Pakistan Movement, followed by a flag-hoisting ceremony at the Government Higher Secondary School, Ghalanai, with school children presenting Qirat, Naat, national songs.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Day was also celebrated in Azad Jammu and Kashmir with great enthusiasm and traditional fervour. The day dawned with special prayers at Fajr in mosques for the solidarity, progress and prosperity of Pakistan and the liberation of held Kashmir from Indian subjugation. 

The people of Jammu and Kashmir, living in this part of the region and held Kashmir, also prayed for the stability, security and swift progress of Pakistan and for the early success of the Kashmiris’ freedom movement.

Pakistan flags were hoisted on top of the private and public buildings. Various social, political and public representative organised special programmes to celebrate the day in a befitting manner.

All the three AJK radio stations of Mirpur, Muzaffarabad and Tararkheil aired special programmes, highlighting the importance of the day, besides broadcasting special messages of AJK President Raja Zulqarnain Khan and Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider. Reports said the people in held Jammu and Kashmir also hoisted Pakistan’s national flag on top of their houses located at various places, including held Srinagar.
