NNI - CHITRAL: Lawari Tunnel has been closed for all types of vehicular traffic, on the pretext that work will resume inside the tunnel, but no work has yet been started. National Highway Authority (NHA) says that they were paying Rs0.3 million daily to the Korean company for hampering their work by closing the tunnel for work for two hours in winters.
In the last two weeks of forced travel over the Lawari pass, the country has lost millions of rupees due to increased fuel usage by vehicles, not to talk of the waste of time and wear and tear of vehicles and lastly human beings.-NNI
