SCCI plans international moot on hydel power generation

The News - PESHAWAR: The Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) will organise an international hydel-power generation conference on August 14 to be attended by investors from Pakistan and abroad.

The conference is aimed at persuading investors to invest in hydel-power generation projects to help resolve the ongoing electricity crisis. In this connection a Hydel Power Committee headed by former SCCI President Adeel Rauf has already been constituted along with sub-committees, which have been tasked to make the conference a success.
The committees would have contacts with finance, industries and home and other departments to streamline the conference preparations and would have close liaison with investors.

In this connection a pre-conference workshop was held here Friday in which secretary for industries Jamil Ahmad, SCCI Vice-President Faiz Muhammad Faizi, Hydel Power Committee Chairman Adeel Rauf, Managing Director of the Sarhad Hydel Development Organization (Shydo), Syed Ishtiaq Hussain Shah and heads of various government departments participated.

Adeel Rauf presented a report prepared in collaboration with SMEDA to highlight the aims and objectives of the conference.

Managing Director of Shydo briefed the participants on the prospective sites for power generation in Swat, Dir, Chitral, Kohistan, Mansehra and other areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, production capacity, feasibility and free-feasibility reports for the conference.
