Chitral border force being strengthened

CHITRAL (Dawn), June 4: The district coordination officer has said that to efficiently monitor the 326km border of Chitral with Afghanistan, the district border force is being strengthened in terms of personnel, weapons and infrastructure. 

Inaugurating quarter guard of the force here on Friday, DCO Rahmatullah Wazir said upgradation of the force was the need of the hour to check infiltration of ‘unwanted’ elements from Afghanistan into Chitral. 

He said the district was connected to the adjacent Afghan area through 30 passes where security personnel would be deployed and pickets established. He said the border police would be brought at par with other forces. 

Meanwhile, MNA from Chitral Shahzada Mohyuddin inaugurated a transmission line at the Jutilusht grid station here on Friday. 

PRINICPAL HONOURED: The principal of the Langlands School and College, Geoffrey Langlands, has been awarded medal for his contribution in the field of education by the Pakistan Society based in London. 

Shahzada Farhad Aziz of the school told Dawn here on Friday that Pakistan High Commissioner in Britain Wajid Shamsul Hassan presented him the award. He said Mr Langlands was serving in the British army in India at the time of independence but did not return and still served here at the age of 92.
