CHITRAL(The News): Arrangements have been finalised to hold the popular annual Broghal Festival on July 28. Organised by Chianter Welfare Organisation in collaboration with Pakistan Wetlands Programme, the three-day festival is expected to attract foreign and domestic tourists this year.
Yak Polo is the special feature of the event. The people of the area having population of about 1,500 have been celebrating for the last seven years near the famous
Kurumbar Lake and the 33-kilometer long Chianter glacier.
The valley shares its borders with Wakhan corridor of Afghanistan via Darwaza Pass and with Hunza through the Chilingi Pass. It is linked with Ishkoman valley through Sukhtarabad Pass and Yasin Valley via the Darkhot Pass.
The Kurumbar Lake, the source of the Yarkhun River, which joins Kabul River in Arandu, links the area with the Pamir Plateau. The area can truly be called the roof of the world due to its location in the middle of Pamir sliced among the borders of Afghanistan, Pakistan, Tajikistan and China.
