ISLAMABAD (December 25, 2010) : Taking strong notice of the delay in making Lowari Tunnel operational, Federal Minister for Communications Dr Arbab Alamgir Khan on Friday directed the concerned authorities to submit weekly report on the progress of the project. "No compromise will be made on the quality of work on the project of vital importance," said the minister while chairing a high-level meeting on the progress of Lowari Tunnel Project.
The minister also directed the concerned authorities to submit a complete report on the project within fortnight. He appointed Mather Niaz Rana Joint Secretary MoC as Co-ordinator of the project. The meeting was attended by Secretary Ministry of Communication Sharif Ahmed Khan, Chairman NHA Chaudhry Altaf Ahmed, senior officials of the Korean Contractor SAMBU and other officials from the Ministry and NHA.
The minister was given detailed briefing on the progress of the project. He was informed that 43 percent work of the tunnel has been completed. The minister showing dissatisfaction over the pace of work directed the Chairman NHA, GM and Project Director to speed up the work so that it could be completed as early as possible.
