Private schools win honours in exhibition in Chitral

CHITRAL,: Students of private schools won honours in art and science exhibition held here on Thursday at Aga Khan Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Kuragh.

Principal of the school, Ms Sultana, said that over 240 students from different schools and colleges presented their models in the three-day exhibition.

She said that science, IT and local culture were the subjects of exhibition, which was first of its kind held in Chitral under the aegis of an NGO.

On the concluding day, a large number of people also thronged the venue and evinced keen interest in models put on display.

The model of Lowari Pass attracted the visitors’ attention. Through the model a student had made an effort to highlight that the crucial pass was the main obstacle in way of progress of people of Chitral and many people had lost their lives while crossing it in winter.

The IT stall also remained abuzz with people and the models on display showed how the students of this remote area were emerging in this field.

The students, majority of them girls, had made great efforts to reflect the rich biodiversity of Chitral in its true form. The Aga Khan Higher Secondary School for Boys clinched first position in cultural models.

Aga Khan higher secondary school, Kuragh, was declared winner in biology, chemistry and physics. Government College and Qutaiba Public School of Chitral were declared winners in IT and mathematics respectively.

The president of Aga Khan Council, upper Chitral, Amir Afzal Khan gave away prizes to the winner students.— Correspondent
