Heritage Caravan enjoys rich Chitral traditions ثقافتی ورثہ کارواں چترال روایات سے لطف اندوز

PESHAWAR: The Heritage Caravan under the auspices of Tourism Corporation of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TC-KPK) explored rich and unique culture of Chitral by visiting Birir, Bamburet and Rambur valleys of Kalash on Chilimjusht festival.

Under the second phase the caravan was headed by Dr Abdul Samad, Consultant Directorate of Archaeology and Museums, Khyber Pakh-tunkhwa.

The caravan comprised of three categories of people including senior citizens, students and teenagers. The 30 members of caravan were fascinated by the dances during the Kalash festival of Chilimjusht. The dresses and cultural values attracted participants of heritage caravan.

In a bid to provide an opportunity to masses to travel across various historic places and know about cultural values of the province, the Tourism Corporation in collaboration with Directorate of Archaeology and Museums, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has initiated a free guided tour.

Shagufta Malik, a women legislator and chairperson of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Standing Committee on Culture, in her message said the government had taken measures to revive archaeological tourism in the province.

She said the government would extend all kinds of support to preserve and create awareness among youth about rich culture of the province through such events. She expressed the hope that the programme would continue in future as well.

Azam Khan, Secretary Archaeology and Tourism and Managing Director, Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakthunkhwa, said the promotion of archaeological tourism was needed both at national and international level.

Dr Abdul Samad, consultant Archaeology and Museums, said the youth awareness programme on historic archaeological sites had been expanded.
