Pakistan needs real democracy: Musharraf

LAHORE - Pakistan desperately needs a real democracy, supported by civil and military establishment, remarked Pervez Musharraf, chief of All Pakistan Muslim League.

In a press statement issued on Saturday, he claimed that both PPP and PML-N due to their incompetent and incapable leaderships lost the support of civil and military bureaucracy.

Musharraf claimed that his popularity graph in Pakistan has been mounting due to incompetence of the ruling leaders and the time has come that people of Pakistan should disassociate themselves from dynastic politics of PML-N and PPP by bringing a third political force into power.

“Next elections will prove mother of all elections, which he expects bring major changes in the existing political scene of the country.” He maintained that incumbent government in Pakistan was fabricating cases against him but he would definitely return to the country.

Commenting on Pak-US relations, he asked the American administration that the US should abandon the approach that Pakistan was solely dependent on them and realise the fact that both the countries were inter-dependent on each other due to their bilateral interests. He said that friendly and cordial relations with India were also in the interest of Pakistan, as both the neighbouring countries couldn’t afford confrontation.
