PESHAWAR: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leader Maulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali on Sunday asked the provincial government to take notice of the unchecked deforestation in Chitral district.
In a statement, he expressed concern over the ruthless and unabated cutting of valuable trees in Bamboret, Ramboor and Berir. Maulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali said the ruthless cutting of trees had created serious environmental problems in the area.
He asked the officials concerned to take action against the timber mafia as the trees protected the environment from the negative effects of global warming. The Jamaat-e-Islami leader said the area would soon run short of firewood and timber if no action was taken against the mafia.
