Peshawar—One of the mega projects of Lawari Tunnel in Chitral Valley has
once again gone into doldrums after the construction company stopped
work due to unavailability of funds required for second phase of the
project while the residents of the area have warned complete strike in
the entire district if the government failed to pay heed to the issue.
“We will make all the government offices and business markets closed and will launch a protest movement against the government for not allocating the requirement funds for the mega project,” warned former MNA Chiltrali Abd-ul-Akbar Chitrali while addressing a press conference on Wednesday.
The Oxygen pipeline inside the tunnel, the former MNA said had been installed with cost of Rs 250 million, which the foreign construction company had also taken away winding of the project owing to less allocation of the funds.
