Nine militants, 25 soldiers killed in pre-dawn cross border attacks in Chiltral


PESHAWAR, August 27 (APP): Security forces in Chiltral district Saturday in a pre-dawn attacks by the Taliban militants from across the border killed nine attackers, while in the armed combat 25 troops of the Frontier Corps embraced martyrdom, Security sources said.Security official told APP that 16 FC men, 9 Police officials and Levy’s personnel embraced martyrdom in the gun battle as hundreds of militants from Afghanistan launched a predawn cross-border raid on seven border check posts in the Chitral district.The security forces also returned fire and inflicted heavy casualties on the militants, added the official.
The militants attacked seven posts manned by the Chitral Scouts militia in the border village of Arandu, which is adjacent to Afghanistan’s Nuristan Province.
The militants attacked some posts with heavy weapons and others with mortars, added the official.
The militants seized the village of Godibar after they destroyed the checkpoints. A member of the paramilitary forces, said troops called in helicopter gunships.
The local told that the Taliban attacked border checkpoints at Arson, Dameel Nisar, Bodebar and Mirkani. The attackers blocked Arando Road near
border area of Bodebar that is causing difficulty to Scouts forces in retaliation, sources added.
