Nato, Afghan forces behind attack on posts: Chitrali

CHITRAL: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leader and former Member National Assembly (MNA) Maulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali has said that the Nato and Afghan forces have attacked the security forces checkposts in Chitral under a conspiracy and termed it a sheer negligence and incompetence of Pakistani security and intelligence agencies.

Speaking at press conference at press club here on Tuesday, the JI leader claimed that three such attacks had already carried by the Afghan forces on Pakistani soil but the government did not take up the issue properly. He said the government s unresponsive policy has paved the way for such aggression.

He held the commandant of Chitral of Scouts, district police officer and district coordination officer responsible for the brutal killing of soldiers at the hands of foreign elements and demanded their immediate transfer from the district.

To ensure peace in Chitral, the JI leader said that Chitral Scouts deployed at Bajaur, Mohmand, Dir and Swat should be called back to the district and commandoes equipped with the latest weaponry should be deputed at the checkposts to give a tit-for-tat response to the intruders.

Maulana Chitrali also appealed to the Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani that army should not be tasked other duties except that of defending the frontiers of the motherland. He also called for imparting commandoes training to the Chitral Scouts so that they could combat the aggressor in a befitting way.
