‘Christian missionaries fulfilling responsibilities of Muslims’

Srinagar, Jan 20: An international orator on Islam and comparative religion Dr Shuaib Sayyed Sunday said the responsibilities toward Islam, which should be accomplished by Muslims was mostly done by Christian missionaries. 

Addressing an Islamic conference ‘A Call Towards Global Peace, Harmony and Unity’ organized by Islamic fraternity organized at the Convocation Complex of the University of Kashmir on Sunday, Sayyed said Christian missionaries were active throughout the world.

“Every time we abandon our responsibilities, each time we have to suffer a great loss,” said Sayyed, a regular peace TV speaker. “Whenever we perform our responsibilities well, we earn the profits.”

Sayyed, who was the chief guest on the occasion, spoke on the topic ‘Dawah or destruction’.

“The process of Dawah or invitation has started from the first day of Islam until all the Arabs reverted to Islam,” Sayyed said. “Unfortunately, we do not regard this work as our duty and do not invite people toward the path of Islam.”

Talking about the way children should care and love for their parents in the old ages, he said: “Do not treat your old parents with disrespect rather respect them and care for them the way they treated you during your young age. However, if your parents divert from the path of Islam then confronts them. Allah is above all.”

Referring to the famous journalist Yvonne Ridley who reverted to Islam after covering Afghanistan war, Sayyed said: “We are Muslims only by name but those who reverted are far better people and follow Islam in a better way.”

Referring to the contributions made by Ahmed Hoosen Deedat and Zakir Naik toward Islam, Sayyed said: “One has to make efforts and work hard in achieving goals. Hurdles come along but one should strive to cross those hurdles.”

Speaking about Islam as the fastest growing religion, he said: “It is very important that we invite people to Islam. Allah says Islam will spread all around the world no matter what. Islam is the fastest spreading religion in the world. According to research scholars, the communities that cease to exist should have a fertility rate of 2.11. Islam is a religion which has a fertility rate of more than 2.11.”

Answering a question about ‘Shirik’ (idolatry or polytheism) done by the people in shrines, Sayyed said: “Allah is the only provider. If we consider anyone else in this regard, it is the biggest sin and will not be forgiven by Allah.”
