Despite the claims made by almost all past governments, the people of Chitral are still deprived of a university. Although two campuses – of the Abdul Wali Khan University and the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University Sheringal – have been functioning in the area, they are like a drop in the ocean considering the increasing number of students in this largest district of the province.
Education is essential for the social, cultural, economic and moral development of a country. In a social welfare state, it is the government’s responsibility to provide educational facilities to all of its citizens. The students of Chitral look to the new PTI government with the hope that it will establish a university in Chitral.
