CHITRAL, July 18: Chitral Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Shoaib Jadoon has said that district border police force is being strengthened to effectively check the intrusion of terrorists from the neighbouring Afghanistan.
He was speaking on the occasion of giving compensation amount to relatives of deceased personnel of the border force here the other day.
The deputy commissioner said that the peculiar geography of the district had made it dependent on the border police force for its safety.
Mr Jadoon said the force had always rendered invaluable sacrifices to protect the borders of the district against the intruders. “Five jawans of the force died in Arsoon area while stopping Taliban from entering the district in August 2011,” he said.
Relatives of the deceased personnel, including Abdul Ghafar, Salahuddin, Mursaleen Khan, Mohammad Azam and Mohammad Islam, were given compensation cheques of Rs1.34 million each. The amount has been given by the home department.
LOADSHEDDING: The residents of Ayun village have demanded of the government to direct owner of the local hydro power station to ensure proper power supply with full voltage to the village.
Speaking at a meeting held here the other day, they expressed concern over the frequent loadshedding and low voltage.
