Chief Minister Pervez Khattak approves Rs300m for #Chitral

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Pervez #Khattak has approved Rs300 million for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of communication network in the #Chitral district. 

Of this Rs150 million will go to roads and bridges and Rs150 million will be released to restore irrigation channels and construction of spurs and protection walls.According to an official handout, he was chairing a review meeting on rehabilitation of flood-affected infrastructure in Chitral at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.

The meeting besides administrative secretaries of all the relevant departments and district administration authorities was attended by Member National Assembly from Chitral Iftikharuddin, MPAs Ghulam Muhammad, Fozia Bibi, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chitral leaders, elite of the area and Economic Advisor to chief minister Rafaqatullah Babar.

The chief minister said his government was going to announce a new lease policy soon with a regulatory mechanism and putting some safety walls so that the minerals should not be exploited by unauthorized and the waste of precious wealth is blocked for good. He also underlined the need of scientific exploration of mineral wealth in Chitral and utilising its income for welfare of the locals.

Pervez Khattak said the developmental and public welfare initiatives would be in the present fiscal space of the province. However rationality would prevail and there would be no exaggeration in any sector. He said financial discipline would be maintained and every penny would be spent on public welfare.

The chef minister agreed to open Lowari Tunnel for three days in a fortnight and wished that the supply of essential commodities to the mountain locked valley should not be distributed in the odd weather.

Pervez Khattak said Rs 17 billion were reflected against Bhasha Hydropower Project. However he said that the federal government had told the provincial government that if the centre failed to spend all money or portion of the reflected money by December 30 this year, Rs. 7 billion of these resources would be diverted to Lowari Tunnel, Lift Irrigation Scheme Dera Ismail Khan and projects in Wapda.

The chief minister said a new technical college in Chitral while one of the two universities campuses in the district would also be strengthened. He agreed to give resources to District Council Chitral and Mastuj tehsil for developmental schemes of immediate nature. Published in The News 10 12 13
