Army engineers despite harsh weather keeps open #Lawari tunnel: Gen Rabbani

PESHAWAR: Corps Commander Lieutenant General Khalid Rabbani visited #Lowari Tunnel and appreciated the role of Army Engineers which despite having adverse weather and heavy snow fall materialized all resources to open Lowari Tunnel during the month of January.
According to an ISPR release here, it is noteworthy that Army Engineers have moved heavy machinery and equipment to the northern and southern bounds of Lowari Tunnel in order to remove snow well in time.

It is pertinent to mention that since 5th November 2013 up till now 10 spells of heavy snow fall have been recorded and currently 3 feet snow have been removed by the Army Engineers in order to make the smooth flow of traffic.
During the last one month 7000 vehicles have safely crossed the Tunnel. Moreover Chitral Scouts with the help of Sarhad Rural Support Program has recently completed the construction of waiting rooms which are meant to facilitate the passengers in the close vicinity of Tunnel. Due to this effort the passenger will be facilitated who could not continue their journey.
The resident of the area have appreciated the efforts of Pakistan Army due to which traveling have been made possible during heavy snow fall.
