PESHAWAR: Leaders of Jammiat Etahad-e-Ulema from Chitral rejected the schedule of opening Lawari Tunnel for two days in a week for four hours each day by National High Authority (NHA) and threatened that contempt of court case would be submitted and protest to be initiated Chitral to Karachi against NHA if federal government did not admit their demand. Addressing a news conference on Moday in Peshawar press club, Jammiat Etahad-e-Ulema Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, president and former MNA Maulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali said the protest against the schedule introduced by NHA officials for Lawari Tunnel continued from today and a formal demonstration would be held on Wednesday GT Road Sardar Gari Peshawar. He categorically said if their fair demand was set aside, they will protest from Chitral to Lawari Tunnel and a protest would also be staged on January, 20 in front of parliament in Islamabad. The NHA officials have announced to remain open tunnel for six hours in a week for around more than half millions people of Chitral which is a matter of great concern, Chitrali remarked. Giving invitations to all people from various thoughts of schools including human rights, civil society, political parities and residents of Chitral to be the part of protest against the inhuman attitude of NHA officials, former MNA said and adding if federal government did not solve the matter, they would move to court against them and a protest would be started against them. He regretted over the Chitrali residents and saying they confront worse condition while coming to Peshawar and backing to Chitral as they have to stay in hotels and being charged for it by hotel owners. In his demand from federal government, he said tunnel should remain open for four hours each day in a week and discriminatory and inhuman attitude should be ended with them. “We want to inform Chief Justice of Peshawar High Court via press conference to take notice over the issue in order to help Chitrali residents and also implement the decisions made earlier regarding Lawari tunnel by court. Haji Khurshid Ali, former district chairman council Chitral, Abdul Haq, Mohammad Alam Khan, Mohibullah Advocate, Maulana Khalil Ahmad and Asmatullah were also present on the occasion.
