LAHORE,Jan 22 (APP)- Federal Minister for Communications Dr. Arbab Alamgir Khan has said that PPP government is taking measures to lay road network from Chitral to Afghanistan.“Communications sector is making rapid progress and we would expand and connect our highways to the borders of neighbouring countries”, he said while talking to the media at NHA rest house here on Friday.
The Minister said the work on 450 kilometres long road network is also underway between Chitral and Dushanba.“These highways would meet the stringent standards set by the international organizations”, he added.
He said that the completion of the road network from Chitral to Mansehra would go to a long way in the enhancement of trade activities in the region.”Over two thousands Chinese engineers are working on it”, he explained.
The minister said that better infrastructure of the highways is the backbone of the development of a country.
The Federal Minister said that Gawader will be linked to the borders of Iran and Rs 22 billion would be incurred on the project.
He said that M4 highway would be built with an initial cost of rupees 40 billion, adding that the work on Faisalabad - Khanewal-Multan would start in the first phase.
To a question he said that Rs 2 billion would be spent on the repair of roads in Punjab.
Condemning the drone attacks the Federal Minister said that US government has no right to meddle in our affairs.
Replaying to a question, he said that PPP government is the first democratic government which has addressed the menace of terrorism and PPP would eliminate terrorism from the country once for all.
