We will change destiny of Chitral: Muqam


Peshawar—Ex Federal Minister for Water and Power Engineer Amir Muqam has lauded the reign of his mentor former military dictator Gen Pervez Musharraf for 70 percent construction work on Lawari Tunnel and slammed the PPP for failure to complete the project in its tenure of five years. “We will change destiny of Chitral, include completion of lawari tunnel and link to Tajikistan through the district,” pledged he while address a seminar organized by Monthly Shandoor, titled, “Issues of Chitral and Role of Media” on Saturday. Those spoke in the seminar including Abd-u;-Lateef of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) president Chitral, Shazada Sirajuddin, Saddiq Ameen, Editor of the monthly Shandoor Muhammad Shareef Shakeib, Muhammad Kosar, Dr Habib-ur-Rahman, Vice President of Peshawar Press Club (PPC) Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah Chitrali, Sartaj Ahmad Khan and others. 

Ameer Muqam, who is also central Senior Vice President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), said credit of the lawari tunnel goes to himself and Gen Pervez Musharraf, who he added despite opposing the project by National High Authority (NHA) they allocated funds and inaugurated it. 

He assured the Chitralis to resolve all the issues of the district and also Wah Khan Border, would also be connected with Tajikistan in order to enhance trade with the country. Earlier, Abd-ul-Lateef criticized the incumbent government for considering the landlocked district of the province Chitral as backward, “Both the provincial and federal governments are dealing with the masses of the district as step motherly behavior, despite they merged into Pakistan unconditionally,” he recalled. 

Sadiq Ameen, Kasar and Dr Habib alleged that international forces in Afghanistan did not want the wah Khan border link road to Tajikistan via Chital, they, therefore, appealed the government to make the road to the country so that trade could be developed through the district. They said there were potential of 4000 megawatt hydle generation power in Chitral and they regretted that the masses of the district were mostly deprived of electricity.
